How to File a Complaint or Report an Incident

Make sure that the gas drillers remain conscious of the industry impact to our county.  Be a watcher.
To report an incident or complaint use the following contact information:

  • Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection: 412-442-4000 or visit DEP Report an Incident page. You can send written complaints to Alan Eichler, Department of Environmental Protection, 400 Waterfront Dr., Pittsburgh, Pa 15222

  • Environmental Protection Agency: 877-919-4372 or eyesondrilling@epa.gov

  • Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission: 1-855-347-4545 or contact regional office numbers.

When filing a complaint provide the time, location, and specific details of what you are observing (hear, smell, see, and feel). Taking pictures and/or video with a time and date stamp will help the investigation.

If you observe a pollution incident involving streams or rivers make sure to tell the inspector that it is an emergency and immediate investigation is needed. Contaminates will dissipate quickly in flowing waters and make it difficult for the inspector to collect a sample.

After you file a complaint with the proper authority please file the complaint to the Marcellus Citizen Stewardship Project. To learn more about how to file a complaint and conduct visual assessment attend trainings offered through the Marcellus Citizen Stewardship Project.
